Five on Friday: Halloween Fun

A day away from the beginning of October!!! I am so excited, my Halloween decorations will be coming out and getting set up this weekend. I have been making plans for it ALL week and cannot wait to show y'all what we are doing.

This week's post will be all things Halloween and October.

First up this week, Paper and Glam, released the October Bucket List and I for one cannot wait to start crossing some of these things off for myself
James' work is having a bake sale in two weeks and I am trying to plan what to make for it. I've got it narrowed down to either these Pumpkin Pie Twists or Pumpkin Fudge. Any ideas?

I've been searching for some easy to put together costume ideas to pass out candy this year.

Minnie Mouse would be adorable, but the Harry Potter fangirl in me is also looking at this one too. both would be so easy to put together without having to buy too many extra things.

On second thought, maybe I'll do both... We do have several Halloween events this month might as well not pick just one. Right?

This week I started prepping the candy to be passed out. I found these adorable little goodie bags to sort the candy into and hand out.

Aren't they just adorable? And each bag has a little ghost or pumpkin sticker on the back to seal it closed. I just love it.

And of course no Halloween would be complete without these movies:

And with just enough weeks in October, I'll be able to have one a week.

Happy Friday everyone and here's to the weekend,

Five on Friday

Another week has come and gone. Where is the time going? Seriously, September is on it's way out and soon enough it'll be Christmas. Don't get me wrong, I am that person that starts decorating in November, much to James' dismay - but where has the year gone!?

Well I'll back track a couple holidays to Halloween. I was at the store the other day, and my decorating self went into overdrive. I'm realizing a few days later now, I have to reign it all in, but be on the look out soon for all about our Halloween decorating. I got it narrowed down to a few different ideas.

But back to Christmas... Anyone else getting that bug to bring out the tree and start decorating and playing the Christmas music? I've been trying so hard to be good about it and I am beginning to fail miserably. If the basement wasn't so scary you can bet this girl would have all the Christmas stuff in the apartment already.

Let me go ahead and get into the week's Five on Friday now and stop outing my Christmas addiction hehehe

I got a few new OPI colors from my Mom last month and have waiting not so patiently for Fall, so I could start wearing them. I am in love with the show Scandal, no spoilers still catching up, and was so excited for the Olivia Pope Collection!!! I mean seriously her wardrobe is perfection so of course the colors would be bold but classy, just like Miss Pope. All this week I have been rocking CIA - Color Is Awesome.

Have I mentioned my obsession with Lush Cosmetics? I just adore this place and their bath bombs. I look forward to throwing one in my tub at the end of every week. It is the best way to relax. Everyone seriously needs to check them out. They leave your skin so soft, luminescent, and the perfumed aroma last on your skin all day and night - not to mention throughout your house too. Best of all, all the products are vegan so of course no harmed animals in testing.

I mentioned last week how I did a little Fall shopping - still want to get a few more things. This week I got to wear both my new outfits!!! I love getting to wear new outfits. It instantly makes any day a thousand times better. Since I loved them so much, here is one of them - the second I totally spaced on getting a picture of, next time for sure:

My blazer is from Express, I bought it almost two years ago, at an after Christmas Sale.

Similar

The blouse is from Hollister and is the pretty shade of blue. It reminds me of a modern day Belle, so of course I had to buy it.

Exact

Jeans - I love them so much and worth all the hunting - are also from Hollister. I am making another trip to grab a second pair for winter. I owe it all to Devin too. I pretty much gave up and said I would wait till I made a trip home, and she handed me this pair and said just try it on and see.
 Thank you Devin!!!

Exact

I have been seeing book recommendations everywhere based on this show/book. Any readers/watchers out there? It sounds interesting and I am wondering if I should add one or both to the massive list of TV shows and books I have to watch and read.

Meanwhile on the topic of TV, DWTS is back on and I am obsessed. I cannot decide who I love more. Obviously Val and Laurie are so cute and I mean it is Val - come on he's gorgeous and talented, but can we just talk about Jena Kramer for a second? Week one's dance was so hot and intense!!! I LOVED it. It is going to be so hard picking a favorite for sure this season. Laurie is adorable and so good, but I don't know... Any other ballroom fans out there? Who is your favorite this season?

If you missed anything this week:

Five on Friday: Welcome to Fall

Long time no see everybody!!! I cannot believe it is going on two months since I posted anything on here. I always say I am going to do better, then I get sidetracked by everything else in life and do not make time for this. I really do need to do better. Make a schedule and stick to it, one day it'll happen and hopefully that day is sooner rather than later.

Of course my return to the blog world had to be on a Friday so I could participate with all of y'all in the wonderful Friday link-ups. So many awesome things to share and get caught up on posting about - all sorts of catch up for me. So, for this week I will be sharing five of the things that have gone on since we last met up.

As is the norm for me, many trips around Europe have a occurred. At the end of July and through August, I went to four different countries and got to cross off two major things on my life and travel bucket list. I have come to learn that traveling is a way of life for me. Traveling has become as essential as breathing to me. It will forever be ingrained in my soul.

First up at the end of July, was the Provence region of France. Seeing the lavender fields, was a big bucket list item for me, so when the chance to go for a weekend came up, you can bet this girl was first in line.

I got to see this place in person and STILL I have to ask my self, "Is this seriously real life!?" I mean look at this place!!! This cannot be real life.

Following this place, that I still don't fully believe is real, I made my THIRD journey to Prague. I love this charming city. I especially loved that I got to share this city with Devin, who had yet to go. Of course I would have loved for this to be the time James got to experience Prague, but this was the beginning of a nomadic friendship with Devin. Travel Besties for sure.

At the edge of Charles Bridge. The wrought iron design frames the cathedral and the castle complex perfectly.

If I were to name this summer, it would be The Summer of Gelato. Seriously, I couldn't go anywhere without trying this stuff. I am 110% hooked. This particular one: Carmel, strawberry, and vanilla shaped into a rose.
And lastly on my summer travels was four wonderful days with Devin, traveling through Germany, Slovakia, and Hungary. Seeing Budapest was another thing crossed of my list. Not bad for one summer I would say: Paris (the "I can die happy having been here trip,"), lavender fields of France, and Budapest.

The quaint cruise town of Passau, Germany. Spent our time here hiking to the fortress (seriously was not even the most active part of the weekend) and eating spaghetti and of course gelato.

Bratislava, Slovakia. Climbing the town hall tower, was the best part of Bratislava. We also made the pilgrimage to the countries first ever Starbucks!!! Now that was a walk. Sadly, they are so new the country and city mugs had not arrived in store yet. I may have shed a tear over this, so don't judge hahaha.

Hmm... I wonder what that is...

Hungarian Parliament: Who wouldn't want to go work in this place?

We walked 16 miles that day and still had several hours till we would fall into bed when this picture was taken. One camera and two phones proved to be just enough for photos. But only barely, Devin's phone (the last surviving) died when we got to the hotel lobby.

The Vera Bradley Crew!!!

Summer traveling may be over, but thankfully Fall is beginning and with it all sorts of fun times. Can't wait to see what comes our way next.

Now if I haven't lost you just yet...

I have gotten to spend a great deal of time with the hubs. This is always my favorite since work always has him away at odd hours. I love our date nights.

Sushi for dinner (a regular thing for us) with our bestie across the hall. I love it when I get to have hubby date night and girly date night at the same time.

Movie marathon night/weekend. We were all set on that couch for HOURS!!!
Going out to celebrate one of his co-workers birthdays. Now that was a great night.

Home is my vacation. I love all the fun things we get to do as a couple. Dinners out, BBQs with great neighbors, and of course couch potato-ing it.

One thing that I really never got around to doing, was decorating our house. We've been living in this half way stage of semi furnished/decorated home. I bought beautiful throw pillows in February and some curtains and that was where decorating had stopped for our home. Thankfully that has changed. I finally got inspired and there has been no stopping me since. Our living room nor bedroom is complete but both are super close. October 12th marks one year in Germany for me. Hopefully I can get close to being totally done by then. I'll share much more on my decorating adventures of course, but for now a sneak peak.

Our mostly done living room. Still working on getting photos hung up, but I am so in love with how it has come together. Look at that giant clock too!!! A little (or big) find from downtown. I've realized how phone dependent we are since we are having to adjust to looking up and not at our phones to tell time.

James' super helpful crew putting together our nightstands for the bedroom.

Hard at work and Parker supervising.

If you're wondering Bruce there, is Parker's guest for a few weeks. He follows her everywhere, like a lovesick teenager. So in other words totally adorable.

And the bedroom!!! After work, my favorite thing has been to light those candles and sit in my reading chair looking at the room. As much as I love our living room, the bedroom is by far my favorite. A few minor things have to be completed in here and add a dresser and it is totally done!!!

Home wise, I have been super busy and have made tons of progress, so I am a happy wife.

I found this on my Pinterest hunts the other day and love it!!! A great list of all the wonderful and awesome things that happen each month. I need to get a little caught up though... That will be happening this weekend for sure. Me personally I can't wait for Coffee Day!!! EEK!!!

And my final round up for this week:

FALL SHOPPING!!!
This week I got a bit of a start on it. I'm not much of a Fall person, but I do love an excuse to go buy new clothes and shoes. I mean shopping is always great, but when you can back it up with a real reason why you need these new - fill in the blank - it's all the better right?

Yesterday was super successful. The longest jean hunt of life finally came to an end. Nothing feels better than finding a pair of skinny jeans that fit well and are comfortable. And to go with new jeans of course a new leather belt. It has the most beautiful floral detailing. I was a happy camper yesterday.

Tomorrow I'll be hitting the shops downtown again looking for a few more must haves and maybe a few bonus pieces too.

That burgundy skirt will be a super bold choice for me, but I am feeling really adventurous and hope to find one.

I can't wait to go see everyone's posts later today.

I hope everyone has a great Friday and better weekend!!!

Five on Friday: Second Half of Summer

Summer is in full swing at our house. Once the work week is over, we have been heading out to take in the local events - last week was a food and culture festival featuring Spain - and explore all the summer fun to be had in Germany.

If you follow along on Instagram, you may have noticed we had a packed weekend last week. Well we are showing no signs of stopping. Another weekend of fun in the sun is awaiting us, so now I just have to sit back and wait for James to be off - the hardest part of a Friday.
For this week's Five on Friday, I'll be sharing with y'all a highlight reel of last week, some of the great things awaiting for us to see in Germany this weekend, as well as a few of the exciting tings I'll be getting to experience in the coming weeks.

From Friday night till Sunday evening, it felt like we were on vacation. The weekend was absolutely perfect. Great food, gorgeous views, local festivals, the beach. All the makings of a great vacation. We even caught a minor case of Vacation Blues, Sunday night when we realized it was time to go back to the grind.

Off to the festival!!!

Longest suspension bridge in Germany. Beautiful but scary.

Beach day at Lake Constance!!! 90 degrees of sun and cool refreshing water.

Tonight we are heading out for another food festival!!! Y'all this is quickly becoming my favorite thing about summertime in Germany. Food festivals every Friday!!! I am so excited for this one set up at our neighbor town of Sindelfingen. BBQ ribs, surf and turf, and pulled pork sandwiches!!! Did I go to sleep last night and wake back up in Texas?

Just like Rothenburg, I have been so excited to see this little Bavarian town. I have been patiently waiting for some beautiful weather to go explore this precious town. Bamberg, you have big shoes to fill following Rothenburg. However if any town could give Rothenburg a run for it's money I would say this little gem can.

Sunday we will get to explore the medieval rooms of Lichtenstein Castle and after have some adventure fun on the ropes course. James is beyond stoked for this to happen. He has been itching to do something like this and to go ziplining. A pretty great day in the works with good balence. Castle stuff for me and getting to act like a monkey for James.

Finally what I am so excited for in the coming weeks...

I am heading back to France!!!

No I am not going to Paris, but I will be spending a wonderful weekend in the region of Provence taking in the magnificent lavender fields. I am so excited to get to do this. It is one the many things in France I hope to see.

Doesn't this just look magical? I cannot wait!!!

EEK!!!

Also coming up this summer an oldie but goodie...

That's right I am returning to Prague!!!

My fingers are crossed that this is the time I will finally get to show James this marvelous city. Either way though, it is going to be a wonderful day seeing this gem in the summertime. And maybe one day Prague will release me from the spell.

And finally two more countries are coming up this summer....

Bratislava, Slovakia

Budapest, Hungary

I hope all of you had a great week, a fantastic Friday, and an even better weekend.
